The Exploration Foundation
Internship and Apprenticeship Program
The Internship and Apprenticeship Program of the Exploration Foundation seeks to provide practical experience, knowledge, and contacts to students and others interested in pursuing careers in adventure travel, educational travel, outdoor recreation and education, service learning and volunteerism, or related area.
There are four possible areas in which interns and apprentices might focus:
Trip Leadership and Guiding Marketing and Public Relations Community Outreach Research and Logistics.
Internships and apprenticeships may be paid or unpaid, and are very flexible in terms of the time commitment demanded of the participant. Typically, there will be a particular project or projects to which the participant is assigned, and it is expected that the intern or apprentice will be able to follow the project through to completion.
Past participants have focused on:
1) Trip leading and translating on a trip focusing on social justice issues in Costa Rica 2) Trip leading and translating on a trip focusing on social justice issues in Jordan 3) Raft guiding and trip leading for adventure travel in Honduras 4) Marketing of trips to corporate groups 5) Community outreach projects involving local school children, and 6) Development of a long-term business plan and marketing strategy for The Exploration Foundation.
